Q: Is there a vet to keep an eye on the puppies?
A: There is a vet that is local but this is a private home and there is not a vet on site.

Q: Why does mom disappear sometimes?
A: Luna will leave the puppies to go to the bathroom and also to get some rest from nursing once the pups are several days old. She will stay with them
almost non-stop (except for potty breaks) for the first few days.

Q: Why does mom seem to lick the puppies’ genital area?
A: Luna will lick the puppies to stimulate them to urinate and deficate.

Q: Why don’t the puppies move? Are they okay?
A: When the puppies are very young they sleep and eat and that’s about it. There isn’t much moving about until they are a few weeks old. They are growing rapidly so they will also
sleep a lot.

Q: When do they start to eat regular dog food?
A: They will get their first meal of puppy kibble at about 3 weeks. They will continue to nurse from their mother until they are about 6 weeks.

Time for baby sloths to take a bath!

These baby sloths are in for a busy day! They are about to get baths. They may not love it, but it’s important to keep them clean and keep their fur clean from pests.

Blind cat learns to swim!

This otter is sound asleep and twitching and moving. He must be having a wild dream. It’s very cute.

Shhh! Puppy sleeping!

Riley the blind cat lives at the Blind Cat Sanctuary. She is a very sweet girl but is overweight. In an attempt to get her to exercise more, rescue workers are trying to teach her to swim. This was their first attempt.

So they learned that they needed to add more water and tried again.

Looks like Riley really got the hang of it that time. I love Mac’s expression as he watches Riley in the pool. No thank you!

As you can see, not all of the cats are completely blind, some of them have limited vision but are considered blind.
